Best New Author Award

Hello Folks,

I sure could use your help on this one:

I’d like you to take a moment to nominate me, D.S. White, for the Best New Author Award at Cushcity.com.

“Nominate you?” you say.  “But I’ve not even read your book as yet… what’s up with that?”

To which I say:  “If you’ve ever read one of my posts and either been moved to tears, burst into laughter, thought, how’d she know? or said to yourself, she ain’t neva lied!  Then I’m talking to you.

I parlayed the same conversational tone and keep-it-real attitude of my blogs into my book, so please nominate, and then vote for me, D.S. White.

To do so, send an email to nominations@cushcity.com, with D.S. White, Best New Author Award in the subject line.

NOTE: You may only nominate me once, but when the voting begins, you may vote more than once.

Nominations must come from friends (that’s you), family, business associates and reading fans, (you again). The twenty (20) authors who receive the most nominations will be tallied and the list of 20 will be announced by March 10th, 2006. The nomination process is just the first half, so I’ll keep you posted.

First Place Author Wins: FREE accommodations for a 7-day cruise to Ocho Rios, Jamaica; Grand Cayman Islands; and Cozumel, Mexico with the CushCity Staff and Authors: Zane, Carl Weber, Mary Morrison and ReShonda Tate Billingsley, and comedians from the “Holla!” DVD series. And also a complete CushCity.com marketing/promotion package as Premier Author.

Now, just between you and me, I’m not real crazy about being on an oversized boat and traveling into international waters.  The way I’ve been reading it lately, some folk don’t make it back alive–but I sure would like that CushCity.com marketing/promotion package as a Premier Author cause I’ve seen their prices and I don’t think they take payment plans…LOL.

Also, I think that entering the contest is a good way to gain some name recognition.

So if you’d like to help me accomplish the above, nominate, D.S. White for Best New Author Award!

Thanks in advance. Dee

The 411

Hi Folks,

Sorry for the abandonment of late, but here’s a mini update with what’s been going on with me.

  1. After 6-1/2 years my church met three weeks ago and agreed that last Sunday would be our last worship service. Since the governing body is a separately corporate indentity, that will in no way affect the DTA (Don’t Throw (it) Away) program we recently started in Maxwell High School, targeting the troubled teens. Little did I know when I wrote the piece Endings and New Beginnings, how on target I would be. Although I will relish not having to travel two hours each way from PA to NY every Sunday, I will miss the fellowship of my sisters and brothers.
  2. I’ve been busy revising and rewriting AIJAN, the reasoning you can find here and it will be re-released by March 1st so all subscribers and people on my waiting list, look out for an email from me around that time with a discount code for either a percentage off the list price or FREE shipping.
  3. I’ve ordered my ISBN’s for my publishing press in the making and they should arrive next week. This will facilitate my using my press’ name on my book instead of Lulu’s which screams POD (Print on Demand, which is looked down upon in the literary world. Yeah, yeah, folks always gotta have a reason to hate… LOL)
  4. I’ve also been busy setting up websites/blogs for the publishing press to be, an author site for me, and an online bookstore, so much to do, so little time with which to do it — but ever so much fun! (Here’s a sneak peek at the possibilities to be had from templates and shopping cart software courtesy of my Siteground.com hosting package :) Divine Truth Press(1), Divine Truth Press(2), Read Zone Online Bookstore, and D.S. White, Author(1), D.S. White, Author(2)
  5. I’ve started another blog (yes, another one) in a book pitch/book publishing community which I feel will be great exposure for me and my book, because the topic I’ve chosen to cover is self-publishing for the first time author. And did I mention that although part of a paid community, this blog is FREE? (Yes it is!)
  6. I’ve been sick off and on all week, going to bed at crazy hours: 8 pm, 8:30 p.m and 9:00 p.m. For those of you who know my sleep pattern, you know that’s waaaaaaay early for me.

Anyways… just wanted to let y’all know that I’m still alive and kicking.

Till next time, Dee P.S. I almost forgot! If you’re a member of Curves, be sure to get February’s issue of Diane Magazine cause yours truly is featured in the Body Love section on the inside back cover. Large but beautiful–which started off the “push-aways-from-the-table” I’ve been doing for the past 4 weeks and the weightloss total of 6 lbs. No wonder those models are anorexic or bulimic… Whew!
